How To Book An Appointment
You can book an appointment the following ways:
- Request an appointment by visiting our Consulting Room
- Through Patient Access – if you wish to book via Patient Access, you will need to complete our Register for Online Services form
- By calling the practice on 01483 239903
- By visiting the practice
The practice appointment system provides more availability for ‘on the day’ appointments and a smaller number of pre-bookable appointments for those who need to book ahead, (these can be booked two weeks ahead).
For an on-the-day appointment, please telephone the surgery preferably in the morning at 08:00, or using the automated phone system from 18:30 the previous evening. Pre-bookable appointments are opened up each weekday two weeks in advance. These appointments can be made at any time.
Please be aware our phones lines are exceptionally busy first thing in the morning but will be answered as soon as possible.
We encourage patients to see their usual GP wherever possible; however, you are able to see any GP if your usual GP is not available.
In a number of cases it might be worth considering an appointment with a practice nurse rather than a doctor. Practice nurses are qualified to deal with many conditions and you may be seen more quickly.
Practice nurse appointments can be made in advance. To request an appointment with a nurse or healthcare assistant, please complete our Make An Appointment With A Nurse or HCA form.
Both the doctors and practice nurses are available to give advice over the telephone. You may be asked to phone back or to leave your telephone number so the doctor or nurse can ring you back when they are free.
SMS Reminder Service
Mjog is a system that enables patients to receive a confirmation text at the time of booking an appointment and a reminder the day before the appointment itself.
We will also use this service from time to time to inform you of any relevant updates and campaigns, for example; holiday closures or our annual ‘Flu clinics.
You can opt out of this service by replying STOP. However, if the mobile is shared you will need to contact the surgery directly if you personally wish to opt out or have the consent of everyone who shares the device before replying STOP otherwise all users will be opted out and will not receive these messages.
If you wish to find out more about the service and fill in our consent form or you wish to record your decision to opt out please click here to view our SMS information document
If you would like to find out more about Mjog please go to www.mjog.com.
It is worth noting that SMS reminders are now sent at key times during the day so may result in a delay in being received as it will not be sent straight away at the point of booking anymore. If an appointment is booked within 24 hours of the booking time no SMS will be sent as reminders are only sent up to 24 hours ahead of the appointment time.
